Say Yes to being Spontaneous!
OMG.
Flash Mob Austin is making my dreams come true. Something that's been on my life-to-do list forever: Busting out in a random song and dance in a public place.
After two years of requests, Flash Mob is going to teach us some spontaneous choreography so we can perform it next week at a big event to be determined.
Learn the dance Sunday, the 20th, at 416 E. Cesar Chavez from 2-5 pm.
See you guys there!

Saying Yes is simple
The Philly Nelson.
Joel enjoying Cinnamon Toast Crunch Covered French Toast.
The Donna Summer and a Gloria Gaynor with Vegan Chorizo!
They are open Thurs-Sun from 8:30am-2pm, but try to get there early before they run out of ingredients. A new location is coming soon to the Drag area!
We wandered over to Flightpath for some after biscuit espresso and tea, and I fell in love. This place is so cute.
Everything was up-cycled or recycled with a vintage feel. It was really quiet inside and seemed like everyone was motivated and focused on getting work done, and they actually advertise their quietness, and the fact that they aren't a live music venue. We had a good time meeting new and old friends and talking on the cozy patio.
I headed back to my neck of the woods, and stopped in at End of an Ear to buy some records for a friend's birthday record listening party. Oh, this place makes me wish I had money to buy a record player and start a record collection. One day!

I picked up Sassy Wife and ran around town and stopped in at Lovely. I picked up a ridiculously awesome hobo bag for under $30. I almost bought this jacket but it was out of my budget!

You should definitely stop in if you haven't already. They frequently host trunk shows and fun events, including Wine Wednesdays (3-6pm), where you can sip on some wine and check out new items.
Hope ya'll are having fun enjoying the weather and exploring the city!

Some quick weekend picks for my favorite snowbunnies.
Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top will be hanging out Twin Liquors in the Hancock Marketplace, signing bottles of his Pure Vida Tequila from 5-7pm. Sounds like a win-win to me.
My girl Sassy Wife will be playing this Saturday at Tom's Tabooley from 7-9pm. Good food, good music, BYOB...what else do you need?

Say Yes to Sweet Lovin'
The balloons are out, the rose prices are rising, bears and heart shaped boxes are staring you down in the check-out line. Yeah, yeah, it's V-day once again. But it doesn't matter if you're happily or bitterly single, madly or just-sort-of in love with your significant other, there's something for you to put your heart into this February 14th. I'm not much into holidays, but there are so many sugary sweet events happening this year, I just may have caught the lovebug.
One Night Stand-Up Comedy:
Check out Coldtowne Theater's Remote Controlmance, on February 12th starting at 8pm. Turn of the Century Paris is presenting your favorite tv shows, including Say Yes to the Dress, 24, Lost, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Unsolved Mysteries. It's $5 per show (which includes two improvised tv shows), BYOB, and a perfect way to spend a Saturday night, whether you're single or snugglin' up with that new dude you met on 6th St. Cheap date? Sign up for Coldtowne's e-mail list and get a 2-for-1 ticket for any show.
If all goes well and you still want to laugh it up, stop by The Hideout Theatre after dinner downtown V-day, at 7 or 9pm, for their Love is a Funny Thing! Valentine's Day Show. $25 for all inclusive love and improv and fun.
Hopeless Romantic:
The amazing crew at the Alamo Drafthouse are, as always, churning out some holiday entertainment. Master Pancake Theater will be mocking my favorite romantic movie, The Notebook. Catch it at the Lake Creek location on Feb. 10th at 7 or 10pm for just $13.50. Go ahead, let that cute girl cry on your shoulder!
As awesome as that is, nothing could be more romantic than making-out, I mean, seeing a classic movie at the drive-in. Blue Starlite Urban Drive-In will be screening Roman Holiday February 13th and 14th at 8pm. You can walk, bike, or bring the caddy. BYOB, check out the food trailers nearby, or buy some classic candy, popcorn, or smores! You can even bring your pet as long as they don't bark it up. Prices start at $10, and yes, they really do encourage making out.
Got a sugar daddy or sweet tooth?
If I had $75 and a lover I'd be lickin' my lips at the Alamo Lake Creek's Valentine's Day Feast: Chocolat. Starts at 6:30pm! Johnny Depp and a chocolate feast? Yes, please.
I cannot stress enough how awesome Courtney at Divine Serenity is. Book a massage for you or someone you adore this Valentine's day and receive a free four pack of hand dipped chocolate covered strawberries. How divine is that?
Bitter and wanting to sing about it:
Love Bites: The Power Ballad Sing-Along. Need I say more? Grab your lighters, $12, and your friends and jam out all this week and next at the Alamo Ritz or Alamo Lake Creek locations.
Bitter, broke, and single? The fine folks at The Highball will also be throwing a free Love Bites Karaoke Party at 10pm this Valentine's day.
Need some new skivvies before all the activities?:
Underwear is throwing a little shindig on the 10th from 6-8pm. Browse for some new pre-lovin' attire while enjoying champagne and sweets and possibly winning a gift card.
The Ghost Room is also hosting an Austin Valentine's Flea market for all you last minute lovers needing a local, handmade gift.
So bitter or sweet, naughty or nice, get out there and spread the love. Just think twice before drunk dialing that ex of yours. Love you, little city!

Saying Yes in the Snow
Depending on how well you know me, you may or may not know that I have the best family in the world! My parents just rolled into town for one night to hang out, despite the frickin' freezin' cold! We met up at Foreign & Domestic, because as you've probably heard and read from multiple raving reviews: it's the best. My dad is in the restaurant biz, so he's been obsessed about trying this place for months. We sat at the bar where they make everything in front of you. This place is all about the pig. As a vegetarian/vegan, I was a little worried about what I would eat. The server was very informative and very helpful, and suggested one of the salads and the parsnip ravioli (without the pig). Sounded good. We snacked on some Parmesan Gougere rolls as we waited, which I was almost going to skip, but glad I didn't. They are delicious and fun to eat! We ordered both salads on the menu, and they were fancy and fresh. The ravioli came out topped with pig, so I sort of freaked out and started to question the service a bit, since the server forgot to nix it. We cleared it out of the dish, and man, you have to try this ravioli. It's very light, and a bit sweet. It sits in a fennel broth with brussel sprouts and tiny perfectly sweet grapes. Definitely a winner. They tempted me into trying the Risotto, and oh my god, ya'll. Break your diet for this. I loved it! Overall, it was a pretty good experience. The server forgetting I wanted a vegetarian dish bugs me a bit, as does the fact that owner(?) brought in his toddler daughter and sat her on the expediting line. I can be really picky about things like this (germs and service), so it may not bother you as much, I'm just pointing out things I noticed to help you experience my experience!

We bundled up and headed back South to check out Hopdoddy, another new place my dad has been asking to try. I'm not kidding, this place was hoppin'. All the tables were full, the bar was packed, and there was a huge line to order food. So, we didn't stay, but the menu does look pretty enticing, from the burgers, veggie burgers, and homemade fries, to the milkshakes and cocktails. I'm looking forward to heading back when the weather decides to warm up.
We needed dessert so we stopped at our favorite coffee shop, Bouldin Creek Cafe. The server suggested the vegan chocolate cake, and cowabunga dude, AMAZING! Really good with the Mocha Latte, too. My mom swears the chocolate cake from Mother's is better, so I'm off to try that next. I mean, Mom knows best, right?
So, yes, a fun little Thursday night adventure in the city!
